MECON Completes Trial Run of Key Conveyors for NALCO's Alumina Refinery Expansion
New Delhi, July 2026: MECON Limited has successfully completed the trial run of the BBC-1 and BBC-2 conveyor systems, marking an important milestone in the expansion of NALCO's 1.0 MTPA Alumina Refinery Stream-5 project at Damanjodi, Odisha.
The trial run was conducted in the presence of NALCO Director (Production & Technology) and MECON Director (Technical), highlighting the progress of the refinery expansion project.
The successful testing of the conveyor systems is a major step towards the integrated commissioning of the Bauxite Storage, Handling and Secondary Crushing Plant, a key component of the refinery's material handling infrastructure.
Once commissioned, the facility will support the efficient transportation, storage, and processing of bauxite required for the expanded alumina refining operations. The project is expected to enhance NALCO's production capacity and improve operational efficiency at its Damanjodi refinery.
MECON, as the engineering partner, continues to play a crucial role in delivering advanced engineering and project management solutions for India's mining and metals sector.
The successful trial run brings the project closer to full commissioning and reflects the coordinated efforts of MECON and NALCO in strengthening the country's alumina production infrastructure.
