Mumbai, 22 August 2025: Ms. Shwetha Rao B has been appointed as the government nominee director on the board of The New India Assurance Company Ltd. Ms. Shwetha Rao B is an Indian Economic Service officer of the 2011 batch.
She is presently posted as Director in the Department of Financial Services, in charge of the IT and Economic Analysis cells in the Department.
Over the last 13 years, she has had a rich and varied experience working in various ministries and departments, viz., the Dept. of Commerce, the Direct Benefit Transfer Mission, the Cabinet Secretariat, the Market Intelligence Unit, the Directorate of Economics & Statistics in the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmer's Welfare, the Dept. of Higher Education, and the National Security Council Secretariat.

She brings with her considerable exposure to the dynamics of international trade, technology for improving both governance and security of the nation, and financing higher educational institutions in the country. Ms. Shwetha Rao B holds a master's degree in economics from Mangalore University in Karnataka.
