OIL Hosts Townhall Under Project 'SANTULAN' to Unveil Comprehensive Environment Strategy

New Delhi: In a significant stride towards environmental sustainability, Oil India Limited (OIL) hosted a Townhall meeting under Project “SANTULAN.” This milestone event brought together the entire organisation to unveil an innovative Environment Strategy aimed at reducing emissions and tackling global challenges like climate change and global warming. Partnering with a renowned global strategy consulting firm, OIL is spearheading a transformative approach to sustainability that goes beyond conventional efforts.

The event was graced by Dr. Ranjit Rath, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of OIL; Shri Saloma Yomdo, Director (Exploration & Development); and Shri Trailukya Borgohain, Director (Operations), along with officials from OIL, Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), and the consulting firm.

OIL is the first PSU in the upstream Oil and Gas sector to set up a Climate Academy, where nominated executives were trained as ‘Climate Champions’ through structured e-learning modules on ESG, decarbonization, climate change, etc. Completion certificates were handed over to 43 ‘Climate Champions’ across organisation.

Project “SANTULAN” was launched in 2024 in collaboration with a global strategy consulting firm. This strategic initiative goes beyond just achieving Net Zero emissions, encompassing a holistic approach to environmental stewardship by integrating non-GHG (non-Greenhouse Gas) parameters, such as water, biodiversity and waste, into OIL’s environmental performance framework. By doing so, the aim is to significantly enhance OIL's overall ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) performance.
