PNGRB sets MWP target of 12.63 crore PNG Domestic Connections by 2034
In FY 2024-25, approximately 21 lakh new domestic PNG connections were added, contributing to an 11% increase in gas sales across the country.

New Delhi, 28 August 2025: With a significant approach towards synergizing the City Gas Distribution Plan, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board has come across a remarkable milestone. To achieve the target, a strong and coordinated synergy between the states and the entities is imperative.
PNGRB has set a Minimum Work Programme (MWP) target of 12.63 crore PNG Domestic Connections, 18,336 CNG Stations, and 5.46 lakh inch-km of pipeline infrastructure to be achieved by 2034 and has assigned a minimum target of 7.85 crore out of the total 12.63 crore PNG connections and 10,131 out of 18,336 CNG stations to be completed by 2034 in these states.

According to the official data, spearheaded by entities authorized by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), the CGD network now spans 307 Geographical Areas (GAs), covering nearly 100% of the country’s geographical area except islands, touching around 784 districts across 34 states and Union Territories. PNGRB has been actively promoting the adoption of PNG as a clean and sustainable fuel.
In FY 2024-25, approximately 21 lakh new domestic PNG connections were added, contributing to an 11% increase in gas sales across the country.
The concerted efforts of PNGRB, in close coordination with state governments and central authorities, are facilitating the development of the City Gas Distribution (CGD) network across the country.
These developments will be a force multiplier towards realizing India’s vision of a gas-based economy, ensuring energy security, environmental sustainability, and equitable access to clean fuel across all regions.
