YES Bank GST Penalty Reduced from ₹3.01 Cr to ₹2.32 Cr by Tamil Nadu Appeals Authority

YES Bank informs stock exchanges that the Principal Commissioner (Appeals-II), Tamil Nadu GST, has reduced the penalty from ₹3.01 crore to ₹2.32 crore in an Order-in-Appeal dated September 2026. Bank to challenge the remaining demand.

Mumbai, 8 September 2026:

YES Bank Limited has informed the stock exchanges that the Principal Commissioner (Appeals-II), Tamil Nadu GST Department, has reduced the penalty demand against the Bank from ₹3,01,50,149 to ₹2,32,68,479.

Background

Earlier, the Joint Commissioner, GST Department, Tamil Nadu, had passed an Order-in-Original levying a penalty of ₹3.01 crore along with tax demand and applicable interest for various GST issues covering the period FY 2017-18 to FY 2021-22. YES Bank had disclosed this to the exchanges on 1 January 2024.

Latest Development

The Bank has now received the Order-in-Appeal, which has partially reduced the demand in its favour. Consequently, the penalty amount stands revised at ₹2.32 crore (along with the remaining tax demand and interest).

Bank’s Position

YES Bank has stated that it believes it has adequate factual and legal grounds to substantiate its position on the remaining matters. At this stage, the Bank does not expect any material impact on its financial, operational or other activities due to the said Order.

The Bank will pursue necessary legal remedies, including filing an appeal against the Order within the prescribed timelines.
