According to S&P, the ratings reflect a very high likelihood of government support if needed, given Bank of India’s role as a public sector bank and the government’s majority ownership. The agency also noted the bank’s sufficient capitalisation, solid funding and healthy liquidity as key supporting factors.

The stable outlook indicates that S&P expects the bank to maintain an adequate capital position along with solid funding and liquidity over the next two years.
