REC CMD Reviews RDSS, PM Surya Ghar Scheme Progress in Rajasthan
Shri Jitendra Srivastava, Chairman & Managing Director (CMD), REC Limited, conducted a high-level review meeting in Jaipur on 26 December 2025 to assess the progress of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) and Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG-MBY) in Rajasthan.
The meeting was attended by Chairmen of Discoms, senior management officials, field-level officers, and representatives of implementing agencies involved in Smart Metering projects across all DISCOMs in the state.
RDSS Review
During the RDSS review, key operational and execution-related issues were discussed, including quality of materials and workmanship, project management efficiency, contract execution, monitoring mechanisms of DISCOMs, adherence to scheme guidelines, recovery of electricity dues from government departments, timely receipt of state subsidy, and further releases of Government Budgetary Support (GBS).
Shri Srivastava appreciated the efforts of Rajasthan DISCOMs, highlighting that AT&C losses have significantly improved from 17.49% in FY 2021–22 to 14.26% in FY 2024–25 (provisional).
PM Surya Ghar Scheme Progress
Under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, Rajasthan has received applications from 2.36 lakh consumers, with solar rooftop installations completed for 1.15 lakh consumers. The Government of India has already released grants for 1.04 lakh beneficiaries.
The REC CMD urged DISCOM field officials to intensify awareness campaigns in rural areas and encourage more citizens to benefit from the scheme.
Concluding the meeting, Team REC reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the successful implementation of key Central Government power sector schemes in Rajasthan.
