REC Ltd expands massive financial aid for power sector of State of Tripura
In a significant step towards the strengthening of the state's power sector, the state-run REC Ltd. has signed an agreement with the Department of Power, Government of Tripura, through Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL), supporting projects worth Rs 10,000 crore in order to accelerate the power projects in the state.
The signing ceremony, which was part of the ongoing Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026, was graced by Sh. Ratan Lal Nath, the honorable minister of power, Tripura.
Sh. Subhendu Roy, Chief Program Manager, REC Regional Office, Guwahati, and Sh. Biswajit Basu, Managing Director, TSECL, formalized the partnership by signing the MoU.
Further, the public NBFC has committed to boosting Northeast India’s clean energy transformation with Rs 5,000 crore in renewable energy support for Tripura.
In a major push to strengthen renewable energy development in Northeast India, REC Ltd. has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA) through the Department of Power, Government of Tripura, to support renewable power projects worth up to Rs 5,000 crore in the state.
This agreement was also signed during the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026, marking a significant step towards accelerating clean energy adoption, promoting sustainable development, and enhancing the region’s renewable energy potential.
The agreement was executed between Sh. Subhendu Roy, Chief Program Manager, REC Regional Office, Guwahati and Sh. D S Das, Director General (In-charge), TREDA, in presence of Sh. K. Ashish Rao, Deputy General Manager (BDM), REC Ltd. and Sh. Uttam Kumar Bargayary, Chief Manager, REC Ltd.
TREDA, the nodal agency for renewable energy development in Tripura, will facilitate the implementation of renewable power projects in the state, while REC Limited will extend financial support to enable investments in the green energy sector. The partnership is expected to help unlock Tripura’s renewable energy potential and contribute towards the clean energy transition in Northeast India.
