SECL 2 mines got 5 star rating from Coal Ministry
A total of 39 mines including opencast and underground got star rating of 3 or more.

In the star rating list of coal and lignite mines released by the Ministry of Coal, Government of India, based on the performance of the financial year 2023-24, 2 mines of SECL have got the highest 5 star rating.
Bangwar UG and Khairaha UG under SECL Sohagpur area have achieved 5 star rating by securing 95 and 91 marks out of 100 respectively. In the opencast category, 5 mines including mega projects Dipka and Kusmunda have got 4 star rating.

A total of 39 mines of SECL including opencast and underground mines have got star rating of 3 or more.
Star rating of coal mines has been introduced by the Ministry of Coal to promote green, safe and sustainable mining practices with the help of technology. Coal Controller Organization, Ministry of Coal provides ratings to coal and lignite mines across the country based on the performance of mines on points related to compliance of various rules and regulations related to mining operations, mainly safety, environment, rehabilitation of project affected families, welfare of workers etc.
