New Delhi: Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated 2 important National Highway projects Dwarka Expressway - Delhi Section and Urban Extension Road-II (UER 2) constructed at a cost of Rs 11,000 crore.

Both the projects inaugurated today are projects that will provide great relief to Delhi NCR and Gurugram. These are not just projects, but structures that give direction to the mobility, environmental balance and economic future of the capital region.

The Dwarka Expressway, a project that has revolutionized the road network of Delhi NCR, is not just a highway but a unique example of engineering and design. The interchange located near Shiv Murti in the Delhi section of this 10 km long expressway, costing Rs 5,400 crore, is technically complex and full of innovation. This interchange also connects the new twin tube tunnel proposed on National Highway 148AE. This proposed tunnel, about 5 km long, will go from Shiv Murti Interchange to Nelson Mandela Marg and will be built at a depth of 20 to 40 meters below the Southern Bridge of Delhi. Without making any kind of interference on the surface, it will make the traffic smooth and signal-free while preserving the environment. This twin tunnel being built on the Dwarka Expressway is a symbol of new momentum, safe travel and sustainable development for Delhi NCR.

The elevated corridor of Dwarka Expressway is a multi-connectivity hub, which connects Yashobhoomi, Bijwasan Railway Station and Delhi Metro. Completion of the Delhi section of Dwarka Expressway will reduce the distance and time from Sonipat, Bahadurgarh, Rohtak and Gurugram to the airport. An alternate route between Delhi-Gurugram will relieve congestion on National Highway 48.

The 66 km long Urban Extension Road-II (UER-2) project, built at a cost of Rs 5,600 crore, will provide better connectivity to National Highway 44 (Delhi-Panipat), National Highway 09 (Delhi-Rohtak) and National Highway 248BB. Several elevated sections have been built in this 6-lane road, which will reduce traffic in Delhi, Gurugram, Sonipat and surrounding areas. There will be revolutionary improvement in connectivity of areas like Alipur, Narela, Bawana, Rohini, Mundka, Najafgarh, Dwarka, Mahipalpur, West and South Delhi. Along with this, Bahadurgarh and Sonipat have also been connected to it. Travelling from Chandigarh-Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir to Delhi Airport will become easier. The distance from Delhi-Haryana Singhu border to the airport, which earlier used to take 2 hours, can now be covered in just 40 minutes.
