SEBI and NISM Host 'Samvad' – A Symposium on Securities Market
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), in collaboration with NSE, BSE, NSDL, and CDSL, successfully hosted Samvad – a two-day symposium on the theme ‘Capital for Growth’. The event took place on 10-11 January 2025 at the NSE in Mumbai, and was streamed live across platforms, including NISM, NSE, BSE, NSDL, and CDSL.
This high-profile gathering brought together government officials, regulators, industry leaders, market experts, and academicians to engage in extensive discussions on the evolving landscape of India’s securities market and its critical role in fueling economic growth.

Ms. Madhabi Puri Buch, Chairperson of SEBI, shared her vision on the future of India’s capital markets. The day featured four insightful panel discussions focusing on key areas such as capital formation, investor trust, social stock exchange expansion, and the impact of digitization and AI on market intermediaries.
The second day, themed “Reflections and Ideas,” included thought-provoking sessions on deepening corporate bond markets, financial inclusion, market expansion beyond equities, RegTech and SupTech for supervision, and balancing supply and demand in capital formation.
The Symposium reaffirmed SEBI’s commitment to tackling policy challenges through consultation and collaboration. Ideas emerging from these discussions are expected to significantly contribute to sustainable economic growth, deepen market resilience, and boost investor confidence in India’s securities market.
