Government Seeks Applications for CMD Post at RINL; Deadline March 5, 2026

New Delhi, February 2026 — The Ministry of Steel, Government of India, has officially advertised for the key leadership position of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) at Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.

This top-level vacancy follows the superannuation of the previous incumbent, with the post falling vacant on January 14, 2026.

Key Details of the Vacancy:

Organization: Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) – A 'Schedule A', 'Navratna' Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE).
Position: Chairman & Managing Director (CMD)
Tenure: 5 years from the date of joining or up to the age of superannuation (60 years), whichever is earlier.
Scale of Post: Rs. 80,000-1,25,000/- (Pre-revised). (Final salary and perks will be as per DPE guidelines with pay protection).

Who Can Apply? – Eligibility Criteria:

Age & Service: Minimum age of 45 years and at least 2 years of residual service before superannuation (60 years) as of the vacancy date (Jan 14, 2026).
Employment Status: Applicants must be in a regular (not contractual) position in:
- A CPSE (including serving Directors),
- Central Govt. (Group 'A'/All India Services/Armed Forces at Lt. Gen level or equivalent),
- State PSEs or Private Sector companies with an average annual turnover of Rs. 5,000 crore or more (average of last 3 audited financial years). Preference for candidates from listed companies.
Qualifications: Must be an Engineering Graduate with a good academic record. An MBA/PGDM/M.Tech will be an added advantage.
Experience: At least 5 years of senior-level experience in the last 10 years in technical, operational, or project management within the steel or allied sectors of a large organization.

Important Application Guidelines:

Last Date: Complete applications must reach the Ministry of Steel by 17:00 hours on March 5, 2026. No late applications will be accepted.
Submission: Applications must be routed through the proper channel (cadre controlling authority/administrative ministry) as specified in the advertisement. Private sector candidates can apply directly.
Selection Process: A Search-cum-Selection Committee (SCSC) will shortlist and interview candidates.
Strict Undertaking: Applicants must submit an undertaking to join the post if selected. Refusal after interview or job offer will lead to a 2-year debarment from board-level posts in any CPSE.

RINL, a 100% Government of India-owned Navratna CPSE, is a major steel producer based in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. As of December 31, 2025, it had an authorized capital of Rs. 40,000 crore, a paid-up capital of Rs. 14,393.85 crore, and employed 9,383 regular personnel.
