PESB Invites Applications for Director (Personnel) Post at SAIL

New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has invited applications for the post of Director (Personnel) at Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), one of India's largest steel producers and a Maharatna public sector company.

The vacancy will arise on July 1, 2027, and the selected candidate will be appointed at the board level with a pay scale of ₹1,80,000 to ₹3,40,000 (IDA).

About SAIL

SAIL is a Schedule 'A' Maharatna Public Sector Enterprise under the administrative control of the Ministry of Steel. The company plays a key role in India's steel sector and operates integrated steel plants across the country.

As of March 31, 2026, SAIL had 49,752 regular employees, including 10,128 executives and 39,624 non-executives. The Government of India holds a 65% stake in the company.

Role and Responsibilities

The Director (Personnel) will be a member of SAIL's Board of Directors and will report directly to the Chairman.

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

• Human Resources and personnel policies

• Industrial relations and employee welfare

• Administrative management

• Workforce planning and talent development

• Coordination of HR functions across the company

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be at least 45 years old on the date of vacancy.

Candidates should be working in:

• Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs)

• Central Government services

• Public sector banks or financial institutions

• State PSUs

• Large private sector companies or joint ventures

Applicants should have a graduate degree from a recognized university. Preference will be given to candidates holding qualifications in Human Resources, Personnel Management, MBA, or PGDM.

Experience Requirement

Candidates should have significant experience in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or Personnel Management.

PESB has given preference to candidates with at least five years of HR experience during the last ten years. Experience in managing large projects or plants with responsibility for a substantial workforce will also be considered.

• Last date for online application: July 22, 2026, by 3:00 PM.

• Last date for forwarding applications through proper channel: August 31, 2026, by 5:00 PM.
