NLC India CMD Prasanna Kumar Motupalli Honoured with Mahatma Award 2025

Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director, NLC India Limited, has been conferred the prestigious Mahatma Award 2025 in the Individual Category for Leadership in Business, Sustainability, and Social Impact. Dr. Kiran Bedi, the first Indian woman IPS officer and former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, and other dignitaries presented this Lifetime Achievement and Business Leadership Award to Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli at a grand ceremony held at the India International Centre, New Delhi, on October 1, 2025.
Instituted in 2016 by noted philanthropist Shri Amit Sachdeva, popularly known as “The CSR Man of India”, and supported by the Aditya Birla Group, the Mahatma Award is recognized as one of the world’s highest honors for individuals and organizations making transformative contributions to society.
The award, named in honor of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, celebrates values of truth, non-violence, social justice, equality, compassion, and sustainability. Since its inception, it has recognized more than 500 changemakers, including legendary leaders such as Shri Ratan Tata, Smt. Rajashree Birla, Shri Azim Premji, Smt. Sudha Murthy, and globally reputed organizations like Microsoft Philanthropy, IBM Foundation, Google Ad Grants, and Twitter for Good.
Shri Motupalli’s selection for the Mahatma Award 2025 follows a rigorous jury evaluation process. The recognition acknowledges his Visionary leadership in steering NLC India towards sustainable and inclusive growth; Commitment to renewable energy expansion and environmentally responsible mining practices; Pioneering social impact initiatives in healthcare, education, livelihood creation, and women empowerment in mining and project-affected areas; Focus on ESG and sustainability benchmarks, ensuring business growth aligning with environmental protection and community well- being.
