ECI shortlists 15 IAS and 10 IPS officers from West Bengal as Central Observers
15 IAS Officers and 10 IPS Officers from West Bengal has been appointed by the Election Commission of India (ECI) as Central Election Observers for the five poll-bound states-West Bengal, Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry. This list also included State Home Secretary Jagdeesh Prasad Meena, an IAS officer of 2004-batch of West Bengal cadre.
The ECI has issued guidelines to the IAS and IPS officers to attend a two-day orientation program scheduled for February 5 and 6 in New Delhi at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management in the presence of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Further, a letter has been issued on January 27 to West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal, an IAS officer of 1990-batch of West Bengal cadre, by the Commission to make it clear that strong disciplinary action would be taken against any officer, skipping the training program in Delhi.
