Government Approves Premature Repatriation of Ms. Smriti Sharan
New Delhi, 23 February 2026: The Government of India, through the Secretariat of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) under the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), has approved the proposal of the Department of Rural Development for the premature repatriation of Ms. Smriti Sharan, IPoS (1993), Joint Secretary, Department of Rural Development, to her parent cadre on personal grounds.
The repatriation will take effect from 31 March 2026 and will include the imposition of an extended ‘cooling-off’ period, as per ACC guidelines.
