Government Assigns Additional Charge of National Commission for Minorities Secretary to Srivatsa Krishna
New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the assignment of additional charge of the post of Secretary, National Commission for Minorities (NCM), to Srivatsa Krishna, IAS.
According to an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Srivatsa Krishna will hold the additional responsibility following the retirement of Alka Upadhyaya on May 31, 2026. He will continue in the role until a regular appointment is made or until further orders are issued, whichever is earlier.
The decision has been taken to ensure continuity in the functioning of the National Commission for Minorities during the transition period.
In a separate order, the ACC also approved the assignment of additional charge of the post of Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences, to Dr. N. Kalaiselvi. She currently serves as Director General of CSIR and Secretary, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. Dr. Kalaiselvi will assume the additional responsibility after the superannuation of Dr. M. Ravichandran on May 31, 2026.
The appointments are part of routine administrative arrangements made by the Government of India to ensure uninterrupted functioning of key ministries and departments until regular incumbents are appointed.
Officials said the arrangements will remain in effect until further orders or the appointment of full-time successors.
