Piyush Goyal takes charge as Secretary of Ministry of Mines

New Delhi, 5 September 2025: Senior IAS officer of the 1994 batch of the Nagaland cadre, Shri Piyush Goyal, has taken charge as Secretary of the Ministry of Mines on 4th September 2025. Before holding this assignment, Shri Goyal had served as the Chief Executive Officer of NATGRID under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Goyal succeeded Shri V.L. Kantha Rao, an IAS officer of the 1992 batch, who is currently serving as Secretary, Department of Water Resources, River Development, and Ganga Rejuvenation.
