Adani Ports to Invest $850 Million in Technology and Decarbonisation
Ahmedabad, June 16, 2026: Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd. (APSEZ), India's largest integrated transport operator, has expanded its strategic partnership with US-based supply chain software company Kaleris to accelerate AI-driven transformation across its port and logistics network.
Under the multi-year agreement, Kaleris will deploy an AI-enabled operating platform and advanced optimisation solutions across 15 container terminals spread over nine domestic and international ports, creating a unified digital backbone aimed at improving efficiency, automation and cargo visibility.
The initiative forms part of APSEZ's broader plan to invest USD 850 million in technology upgrades and decarbonisation initiatives by 2031, with up to USD 100 million earmarked in two phases specifically for automation and optimisation through the Kaleris partnership.
APSEZ Targets One Billion Tonnes Cargo Capacity by 2030
The company said it aims to handle one billion tonnes of cargo annually by 2030 and expects to unlock an additional 91 million metric tonnes (MMT) of capacity, representing nearly 10% of its installed capacity.
Building on Phase I deployments across six ports, the latest expansion will extend advanced operating, planning and automation capabilities across APSEZ's global maritime and logistics network.
According to the company, Kaleris' Advanced Optimization solutions are expected to improve Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) crane productivity by up to 20% and terminal truck productivity by as much as 14%.
AI and Automation to Drive Next Phase of Growth
Ashwani Gupta, Whole-time Director and Chief Executive Officer of APSEZ, said artificial intelligence-enabled automation would define the next frontier of competitiveness in ports and logistics.
"APSEZ has already deployed an end-to-end digital platform from shore to door, providing seamless track-and-trace and integrated command-and-control capabilities. The Kaleris integration will further enhance productivity, improve turnaround time and deliver superior customer experience," Gupta said.
Kirk Knauff, President and CEO of Kaleris, said the expansion to all 15 terminals reflects the success achieved under the existing partnership and will help amplify customer outcomes through the company's N4 Terminal Operating System and Advanced Optimization solutions.
Technology Investments to Strengthen Logistics Ecosystem
As global supply chains become increasingly complex, APSEZ is ramping up investments in artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), computer vision and advanced optimisation technologies to enable real-time visibility and faster decision-making.
The expanded deployment of Kaleris' N4 Terminal Operating System is expected to improve yard utilisation, reduce vessel turnaround times, enhance planning accuracy and ensure more reliable cargo movement across APSEZ's integrated logistics ecosystem.
Currently, APSEZ operates 15 ports and terminals in India and four international ports across Australia, Colombo, Israel and Tanzania. The company has a cargo handling capacity of 653 million tonnes per annum and accounts for around 27% of India's total port volumes.
