India Post Targets ₹17,546 Cr Revenue for FY26; Scindia Chairs Q3 Business Review

NEW DELHI: The Department of Posts convened its high-level Quarterly Business Review for the third quarter of FY 2025-26 today, chaired by Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia. The meeting, attended by senior officers and Heads of Circles from across the country, focused on accelerating India Post's transformation into a modern, profit-oriented organization.

Ambitious Revenue Target

Minister Scindia announced that India Post has set an ambitious revenue target of ₹17,546 crore for FY 2025-26, significantly higher than previous years. The organization has already realized ₹10,155 crore during the first three quarters, registering a growth of 8.2% year-on-year compared to ₹9,385 crore during the same period last year.

"India Post is on a strong trajectory towards achieving this target," stated Minister Scindia, emphasizing the organization's strategic transition towards becoming a parcel- and logistics-driven entity aligned with growing e-commerce demands and citizen-centric service delivery.

Quarterly Performance Highlights

While reviewing Q3 performance, the Minister noted that core verticals—particularly Parcels, Mail and International Mail—have underperformed despite overall positive growth trends. He stressed that parcels and mail must begin "firing on all cylinders" as they are critical to India Post's future growth as a logistics engine.

Top Performing Circles:

  • Rajasthan emerged as the best-performing circle overall, achieving 82% of Q3 targets

  • Karnataka led in Post Office Savings Bank with 112% achievement

  • Delhi excelled in Citizen Centric Services with 240% achievement

  • Maharashtra followed with 166% in CCS

  • Rajasthan achieved 153% in mail operations

  • Uttar Pradesh topped Postal Life Insurance with 129% achievement

Vertical-wise Performance:

  • Citizen Centric Services showed exceptional growth of 95% over Q3 2024-25

  • Parcel vertical grew by 12%

  • Postal Life Insurance grew by 11%

  • Post Office Savings Bank grew by 7%

Strategic Initiatives

Minister Scindia highlighted several strategic initiatives strengthening India Post's position:

  • E-commerce partnerships with major platforms including Amazon and Shiprocket

  • Government-to-Government services expansion through MoUs with Ministry of Agriculture for pesticide verification and Ministry of Rural Development for handholding Self Help Groups

  • Financial inclusion partnerships with AMFI, BSE and NSE, reinforcing India Post's role as a trusted last-mile institution in rural and underserved areas

Way Forward

The Minister directed immediate action on several fronts:

  • Peer learning and benchmarking with underperforming circles adopting best practices from leading performers like Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan and Telangana

  • Focused presentations by select circles on Parcels, Mail, CCS and PLI/RPLI

  • Clear accountability with measurable outcomes and zero tolerance for non-performance

  • Balanced contribution from all circles

"The collective aim is to achieve 30% growth over the previous year," Minister Scindia emphasized, noting India Post's clear transition from a cost centre to a profit centre. He expressed confidence that with disciplined execution, peer learning, and effective leadership, India Post can accelerate its transformation into a modern, competitive, and customer-focused logistics and service organization.

The Minister also highlighted the historical significance of the fourth quarter, which alone contributed nearly ₹4,500 crore last year. He expressed confidence that a similar uplift would help India Post approach its ambitious revenue target, provided parcels and mail emerge as strong growth engines and all circles deliver balanced performance.

Concluding the review, Minister Scindia commended the dedicated efforts of India Post employees across the country and reaffirmed the organization's unwavering commitment to citizen-centric service delivery, guided by the ethos of "Dak Sewa, Jan Sewa." The Q4 review, marking the conclusion of FY 2025-26, is scheduled for April.
