Mark Cutifani, Global Mining Leader, to Speak at World Mining Congress 2026 in Peru

Lima, February 12, 2026. The Program Committee of the World Mining Congress 2026 (WMC 2026) is pleased to announce that Mark Cutifani, one of the most internationally recognized voices in the global mining industry, will join the Congress as a plenary speaker. Mark will contribute his perspective at a pivotal moment for mining worldwide. The WMC 2026 will be held this June 24-26, convening global leaders to shape the future of the sector.

With more than 48 years of experience across six continents, 20 countries, and the production over 30 minerals and metals, Cutifani will bring a high-level strategic perspective at a pivotal moment for the industry, marked by the need to accelerate the responsible supply of critical minerals, strengthen social trust, and lead profound transformation processes across the mining value chain.

A mining engineer by training, Mark Cutifani is widely recognized for his transformational leadership as Chief Executive Officer of Anglo American (2013–2022), a period during which
he led a historic restructuring that positioned the company among the strongest performers in the sector. Under his leadership, Anglo American delivered an average annual shareholder return of 22%, doubled productivity, and achieved a 40% reduction in real unit costs, while simultaneously reinforcing its leadership in sustainability, innovation, and long-
term value creation.

Prior to Anglo American, Cutifani served as CEO of AngloGold Ashanti, where he successfully turned around a complex business environment, and held senior executive positions at companies such as Vale and Rio Tinto. He has also served as Chair of the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM) and President of the Chamber of Mines of South Africa, consolidating his position as one of the most influential voices in global mining governance. In 2024, he was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in recognition of his contributions to global mining investment.
