The United States and Taiwan reinforced their growing economic partnership during the sixth U.S.–Taiwan Economic Prosperity Partnership Dialogue, led by U.S. Under Secretary for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg and senior Taiwanese officials.
The dialogue was conducted under the auspices of the American Institute in Taiwan and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States, reflecting the continued expansion of bilateral economic engagement.
Under Secretary Helberg was joined by representatives from across the U.S. government for discussions with Taiwan’s Minister of Economic Affairs Kung Ming-hsin, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Chen Ming-chi, Deputy Minister of Digital Affairs Isabel Hou, Deputy Minister of Education Liu Kuo-wei, TECRO Representative Alexander Tah-Ray Yui, and other Taiwan authorities.
A key outcome of the dialogue was the signing of a joint statement by AIT and TECRO on the Pax Silica Declaration and U.S.–Taiwan Cooperation on Economic Security. The declaration reaffirmed shared principles of mutual prosperity, technological progress, and supply chain resilience, underscoring Taiwan’s critical role in global advanced manufacturing and its contribution to the rapidly expanding artificial intelligence ecosystem.
Both sides welcomed the dialogue as an important platform to deepen economic cooperation and strengthen strategic alignment between the two economies. Discussions focused on securing supply chains across the AI technology stack, supporting trusted digital infrastructure, facilitating cooperation on unmanned aircraft systems component certification, and strengthening collaboration on critical minerals.
The dialogue also highlighted progress in countering economic coercion, expanding cooperation in third countries, and addressing tax-related barriers to boost cross-border investment between the United States and Taiwan.
Officials reiterated that Taiwan remains a vital partner in advancing shared economic and security objectives, particularly as global supply chains face increasing geopolitical and technological challenges.
The U.S.–Taiwan Economic Prosperity Partnership Dialogue was first launched in November 2020 under the auspices of AIT and TECRO to promote cooperation across a wide range of economic issues and to further strengthen ties between the two economies.
