VersaBank Appoints Global CFO, Promotes Executive to Support Corporate Realignment
December 19, 2025 – VersaBank, a North American digital business-to-business bank, has announced a key leadership appointment and an executive promotion as part of its proposed corporate realignment.
Effective January 5, 2026, Nicolas Ospina has been appointed as Global Chief Financial Officer (CFO), a newly created role at the bank. In this position, he will oversee VersaBank’s finance function at the corporate level.
Ospina brings more than ten years of experience in banking, financial services, and capital markets. Before joining VersaBank, he worked with Raymond James & Associates, where he advised financial institutions on mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, and strategic transactions. He holds an MBA and a Master’s degree in Management.
In addition, John Asma has been promoted to Executive Vice President and will be responsible for operations and strategy execution for Canadian Digital Banking. Asma previously served as VersaBank’s Chief Financial Officer and has held several senior leadership roles within the organization.
Commenting on the announcement, the bank said the leadership changes are intended to strengthen execution of its growth strategy in both Canada and the United States and to support future expansion opportunities.
