BEML and Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) have signed a strategic MoU to co-develop advanced marine systems, focusing on innovation, indigenous design, and manufacturing under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

Delhi, July 25, 2025 – As part of a shared vision to accelerate India’s maritime industrial capabilities, BEML Limited and Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) have entered into a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the co-creation of advanced marine systems—encompassing innovation, indigenous design, manufacturing, and end-to-end lifecycle support. The MoU was formally exchanged at BEML’s Delhi office in the presence of Shri Shantanu Roy, Chairman and Managing Director of BEML Ltd., and Cmde Hemant Khatri (Retd), Chairman and Managing Director of HSL, along with senior leadership from both organizations.

In mid-July, Shri Shantanu Roy, CMD, BEML Ltd., visited HSL and held strategic discussions with Cmde Hemant Khatri (Retd), CMD, HSL. The meeting led to a shared vision for advancing innovation and self-reliance in the hard engineering and defence manufacturing sectors. Building on this alignment, both organisations initiated dialogue for a strategic partnership to jointly develop indigenous systems such as low-bed transportation platforms, dredging machinery, high-capacity cranes, and heavy load transporters—key to strengthening shipyard logistics and marine infrastructure under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

This strategic collaboration is set to unlock global-standard capabilities in marine infrastructure and shipyard logistics through the co-development of these advanced engineering systems. These technologies are critical for supporting both defence and commercial maritime operations. With decades of proven expertise across defence mobility platforms, rail and metro systems, missile components, and mining equipment, BEML is now charting its entry into the marine engineering domain, leveraging its strong foundation in R&D and precision manufacturing
