GRID-INDIA, ISRO Collaborate to Enhance Power Grid Operations
In a move to strengthen India’s power grid operations, GRID-INDIA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Space Applications Centre (SAC), ISRO. The agreement focuses on the use of satellite-based meteorological and geospatial data for grid planning, forecasting, and operations.
The MoU was signed by Sh. Manoj Kumar Agrawal, Executive Director (NRLDC), GRID-INDIA, and Sh. Nilesh M. Desai, Director, SAC–ISRO. The partnership aims to integrate space-based insights with grid management, particularly to enhance renewable energy forecasting and real-time situational awareness.
Officials said the collaboration will also support secure, reliable, and resilient grid operations, contributing to efficient power dispatch amid the growing share of renewable energy in the national grid.
This initiative is part of India’s broader efforts to modernise grid operations using advanced technology and data-driven decision-making, ensuring a more robust and sustainable energy system.
