Indian Oil signs pact with IIT (ISM) Dhanbad

IIT (ISM) Dhanbad and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for a Rs 76.42-lakh CSR-funded project to develop an indigenous solar hydrogen–based clean cooking and micro-power system for rural communities.

New Delhi: IIT (ISM) Dhanbad and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) for a Rs 76.42-lakh CSR-funded project to develop an indigenous solar hydrogen–based clean cooking and micro-power system for rural communities.

This transformative initiative supports India’s Green Hydrogen Mission and aims to deliver sustainable, pollution-free energy solutions that uplift rural livelihoods and advance the nation’s clean energy transition, according to the officials from the IIT (ISM) Dhanbad stated.
 

The project is said to be funded by the state-run firm Indian Oil under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities and will invest around Rs 76.4 lakh under the approval.

IIT-ISM director Sukumar Mishra and Sanjeev Kumar Chaudhary, executive director and head of Bihar state office of IOCL, were present at the programme along with other senior officials.

This technology is expected to reduce dependence on biomass fuels and counter the issues of smoke, which poses health risks to the rural womenfolk who are still depended on traditional ovens for cooking, according to the officials.
