New Delhi: In a major commercial milestone, Numaligarh Refinery Limited has signed a long-term agreement with Progressive Fertichem Private Limited for the sale of sulphur produced from its expanded refinery capacity.

The agreement, signed on May 18, 2026, marks the first product offtake deal following the company’s expansion project, signaling the beginning of its post-expansion commercialization phase.

Key Highlights of the Agreement

  • Product: Sulphur

  • Annual supply volume: 52,500 metric tonnes (MT)

  • Partner: Progressive Fertichem Private Limited

  • Significance: First commercial agreement after NRL expansion

The deal secures a steady long-term offtake arrangement, ensuring a reliable market for sulphur output from the refinery’s expanded operations.

A Four-Year Effort Culminates in Landmark Deal

The agreement is the result of nearly four years of sustained work by teams across the Marketing and Finance departments. Officials from both departments worked closely to address commercial, financial, and procedural challenges, ultimately enabling the successful execution of the partnership.

Their coordinated efforts highlight the refinery’s strategic push to strengthen its downstream commercial footprint.

Strengthening Post-Expansion Monetization Strategy

Beyond securing sulphur sales, the partnership demonstrates NRL’s readiness to monetize products from its expanded capacity through structured and value-accretive agreements.

The deal reflects growing confidence in the refinery’s ability to leverage its enhanced production capabilities and establish long-term commercial partnerships that support sustainable growth.
