Numaligarh Refinery and Oil India Limited Sign MoU
OIL and NRL join forces in carbon capture. Discover the details of their MoU signed on April 17, 2025, aimed at supplying CO2 for CCUS/CCS projects and achieving net-zero emissions.

New Delhi: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between OIL and NRL on 17th April 2025 at OIL Headquarters, Duliajan, for the sale and purchase of Carbon Dioxide (CO2). The Mou was signed by Mr. Rupjyoti Phukan, Resident Chief Executive (FHQ), OIL and Mr. Nalini Kanta Buragohain, Chief General Manager (Corporate Affairs), NRL in the presence of senior officials from both organisations.
As part of this collaboration, NRL will establish facilities for carbon capture from the exiting Hydrogen Unit, enabling the production of CO? which will be supplied to OIL to support its Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS)/Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Projects. These initiatives are part of a reduction in carbon footprint towards achieving net-zero goals for both OIL and NRL
