New Delhi, April 20, 2026: Oil India Limited (OIL) has announced a major step in its energy transition strategy as its renewable arm OIL Green Energy Limited (OGEL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) to collaborate on renewable energy development and supply.

The announcement was made through a stock exchange disclosure under SEBI Listing Regulations and marks a significant milestone in OIL’s sustainability roadmap.

 

Collaboration for Renewable Energy Development

The MoU focuses on joint efforts in:

  • Development of renewable energy projects

  • Procurement of green power

  • Long-term supply of renewable energy

  • Meeting group captive energy requirements

The agreement was signed by:

  • Rajeev Kumar Tamuli, General Manager, OGEL

  • Rupam Kumar Sarma, General Manager (Technical Services), NRL

The signing took place in the presence of the CMD of Oil India & Chairman of NRL, Managing Director of NRL, Directors of both companies, the CEO of OGEL and other senior officials.

 

Supporting Net-Zero Goals

The partnership is aligned with Oil India’s long-term decarbonisation strategy and national climate goals. The initiative is expected to:

  • Scale up OGEL’s renewable energy portfolio

  • Diversify energy sourcing for group entities

  • Support Oil India’s net-zero target by 2040

  • Contribute to India’s national net-zero by 2070 vision

By integrating renewable energy into operational and captive consumption needs, the collaboration is positioned as a key milestone in the company’s sustainable growth journey.
