New Delh: iState-run energy majors Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and GAIL (India) Limited on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore potential technical collaboration and partnership opportunities in upcoming exploration bid rounds, on the sidelines of India Energy Week 2026.
The MoU was signed on 27 January at ONGC’s Advanced Training Institute (ATI), Goa, marking a step towards enhanced cooperation between the two public sector undertakings in India’s upstream energy sector.
The signing took place in the presence of ONGC Director (Strategy & Corporate Affairs) Shri Arunangshu Sarkar, ONGC Director (Exploration) Shri O.P. Sinha, and GAIL Director (Business Development) Shri R.K. Singhal.

According to the official statement, the MoU aims to explore areas of technical collaboration, capability-building, and strategic partnership for participation in future exploration opportunities. The initiative reflects a shared intent to leverage institutional strengths and domain expertise to support India’s long-term energy security objectives.
The collaboration aligns with the broader national goal of strengthening the domestic hydrocarbon sector through cooperation among public sector enterprises and responsible exploration practices.
India Energy Week 2026 serves as a key platform for policymakers, industry leaders, and energy companies to engage on issues related to energy security, transition, and sustainable development.
