SECI Signs MoU with NDMC to Boost Rooftop Solar Adoption in Delhi
In a significant step towards accelerating Delhi’s clean energy transition, the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) to solarise 244 government and public buildings across the national capital.
The MoU was signed by Shri Manas Ranjan Mishra, Deputy General Manager & Head (Solar), SECI, and Er. Deepak Sachdeva, Chief Engineer (Electrical), NDMC, in the presence of Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, Chairman, NDMC.
Under the agreement, SECI will support the planning and implementation of rooftop solar power systems on NDMC-owned buildings, helping reduce dependence on conventional power sources while lowering electricity costs and carbon emissions.
Officials said the initiative will play a key role in enhancing Delhi’s renewable energy footprint, improving energy efficiency in public infrastructure, and supporting India’s broader climate and sustainability commitments. Once implemented, the project is expected to contribute significantly to clean power generation within the NDMC area.
The collaboration also aligns with the Government of India’s push for large-scale adoption of rooftop solar systems in urban areas, promoting energy self-reliance and sustainable urban development.
With this partnership, SECI and NDMC aim to set a replicable model for other municipal bodies across the country to transition towards cleaner and greener energy solutions.
