Korba, February 2, 2026: South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has taken a significant step to strengthen public healthcare delivery in Chhattisgarh by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ashray Foundation for the implementation of Project SHWAS – AI-Enabled Mobile Medical Units for TB and pulmonary care in the Korba district.

The MoU, formalized at SECL Headquarters, comes under the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, with a total financial commitment of ₹4.99 crore. The agreement was signed in the presence of Shri Biranchi Das, Director (HR), SECL, along with senior officials including Shri C.M. Verma, General Manager (CSR), SECL, and Mr. Nalin Johari, Executive Director, Ashray Foundation.

Project SHWAS will be the first initiative of its kind in Chhattisgarh, deploying AI-enabled mobile medical units to provide doorstep screening, early detection, and seamless treatment linkage for Tuberculosis (TB) and other pulmonary diseases. The project aims to deliver preventive, promotive, and outpatient curative healthcare services, particularly targeting project-affected and underserved communities.

Key Interventions under Project SHWAS:

  • Pre-TB symptomatic treatment and primary care support

  • Treatment adherence and patient follow-up

  • TB patient care and hygiene kits

  • Monthly nutritional and wellness support kits

  • Mental health counselling services for enrolled patients

Through this initiative, SECL reinforces its commitment to enhancing public health infrastructure, leveraging technology-driven healthcare solutions to improve health outcomes in coalfield regions of Chhattisgarh.
