DoPT Issues Seniority and Year of Allotment for Newly Inducted IAS Officers in Tamil Nadu
The Department of Personnel and Training has released an order finalising the seniority and year of allotment for State Civil Service officers appointed to the Indian Administrative Service (Tamil Nadu cadre) through the Select List of 2023.

New Delhi: The Department of Personnel and Training has released an order finalising the seniority and year of allotment for State Civil Service officers appointed to the Indian Administrative Service (Tamil Nadu cadre) through the Select List of 2023.
The seniority was calculated under Rule 3(3)(ii) of the IAS (Regulation of Seniority) Rules, 1987, using the prescribed weightage formula based on completed years of qualifying service. Officers such as S. Kavitha and C. Muthukumaran have been assigned the year of allotment 2020 after accounting for their service records.
The order follows the Tamil Nadu government’s proposal dated 18 November 2025 and confirms the integration of the newly inducted officers into the IAS framework.
