BCCL Gets Interim CVO as Deepti Patel Assigned Additional Charge by DoPT
New Delhi, May 29, 2026: The Government of India, through the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), has approved the temporary entrustment of additional charge of Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), Dhanbad.
According to an official Office Memorandum issued on 25 May 2026, the Competent Authority has assigned the additional charge to Ms. Deepti Patel (IRSSE 2010), who is currently serving as CVO of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), Sanctoria.
The arrangement will remain effective for a period of six months starting 29 May 2026, or until a regular CVO is appointed at BCCL, or until further orders—whichever occurs earlier.
The order has been issued under the administrative framework of the Ministry of Coal in coordination with the DoPT, reflecting routine vigilance management restructuring within public sector undertakings under the coal sector.
Key Administrative Details
The memorandum references prior communication from the Ministry of Coal (O.M. No. A-12/1/2017-Establishment dated 06.03.2026), which proposed the interim arrangement.
BCCL, a subsidiary of Coal India Limited, is a major coal producer headquartered in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. The appointment of an interim CVO is aimed at ensuring continuity in vigilance oversight and compliance.
Background Context
The role of Chief Vigilance Officer is critical in Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs), as it ensures transparency, monitors corruption risks, and enforces integrity frameworks within organizations.
With Ms. Patel already serving as CVO of ECL, the additional charge is intended as a temporary administrative measure until a permanent appointment is finalized at BCCL.
The order was issued under the authority of the DoPT EO(CVO) Division, and copies have been circulated to the Central Vigilance Commission and relevant officials in the Ministry of Coal.
