Govt Appoints Asit Gopal as Nominee Director on MMTC Board
New Delhi: MMTC Limited, the state-owned international trading company, has informed the stock exchanges about a change in its board of directors following a government appointment.
Key Appointment:
Pursuant to an order from the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Shri Asit Gopal has been appointed as a Government Nominee Director on the Board of MMTC Limited.

Date of Appointment: The appointment was formalized on January 27, 2026, via a resolution passed by circulation.

Replacing: Shri Asit Gopal replaces Ms. Arti Bhatnagar on the board.

Current Role: Shri Asit Gopal is currently serving as the Special Secretary and Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Textiles and holds additional charge as the AS&FA (Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor) for multiple ministries including Commerce & Industry.
Profile of the New Director:
Shri Asit Gopal, aged 59, is a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer with over three decades of experience. An alumnus of IIT Bombay (B.Tech, Civil Engineering), he also holds postgraduate qualifications in Wildlife Management, Public Policy, and an MBA.
His extensive career spans key leadership roles in public administration, finance, tribal affairs, vigilance, and mission-driven projects like the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Regulatory Compliance:
The intimation was made to the National Stock Exchange of India Ltd. (Symbol: MMTC) and BSE Limited (Scrip Code: 513377) in compliance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
The new director has confirmed that he is not debarred from holding the office of director by any regulatory authority.
