LIC Elevates 7 Officials to Senior Management Positions
Mumbai, April 6, 2026 – Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has elevated seven officials to Senior Management Personnel (SMP) positions. The changes took effect on April 6, 2026, as disclosed in a regulatory filing to BSE and NSE.
Digital Initiatives Gets New Additional Executive Director
Mr. Mithilesh Kumar has been appointed as Additional Executive Director (Digital Initiatives & Transformation) at the Central Office in Mumbai.
He joined LIC in 1990 as an Assistant Administrative Officer. He is a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India. Mr. Kumar contributed extensively to both administrative and marketing areas.
He helped develop front-end IT systems as a programmer in the IT Department's Special Cell. He also handled back office operations of the Investment department before moving to marketing assignments. He headed branches under Muzaffarpur, Cuttack, and Patna-2 Divisions. He was Senior Divisional Manager of Allahabad Division.
Audit Function Gets New Executive Director
Ms. Poornima Gaitonde has been appointed as Executive Director (Audit) at the Central Office.
She joined LIC in 1992 as an Assistant Administrative Officer. She holds a Science degree and a post graduate degree in HRD Management. She is a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India and holds a Diploma in Health Insurance and Underwriting.
Over her 33-year career, she worked in Branch, Divisional, Zonal, and Central Offices. She was Senior Divisional Manager of Belgaum Division and also worked in the Office of Insurance Ombudsman.
South Central Zone Gets New Zonal Manager
Mr. Subbiah Saravana Ramesh has been appointed as Zonal Manager of the South Central Zone, based in Hyderabad.
He joined LIC in 1992 as an Assistant Administrative Officer. He holds a Post Graduate degree in Agriculture from Banaras Hindu University.
He handled various assignments in South Zone and South Central Zone. He served as Marketing Manager of Secunderabad and Rajahmundry Divisions. He was Senior Divisional Manager of Mumbai Division – II and Vellore Divisions. He also worked as Regional Manager (Chief Life Insurance Advisor) and Secretary (Marketing) of South Zone.
HR Development and Training Gets New Executive Director
Ms. Girija Sukumaran has been appointed as Executive Director (Human Resource Development and Training) at the Central Office.
She joined LIC in 1992 as an Assistant Administrative Officer. She holds a graduate degree in History Honours from the University of Delhi.
She served in various Branches and Divisions in both administrative and marketing capacities. She also played a key role in various departments at the Central Office.
Pension and Group Schemes Gets Additional Executive Director
Mr. Sunder Raj has been appointed as Additional Executive Director (Pension & Group Schemes) at the Central Office.
He joined LIC in 1992 as an Assistant Administrative Officer. He is a graduate and a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India.
Over more than 35 years, he gained vast experience in administration and marketing. He worked in South, South Central Zones, and Central Office. He served as P&GS Unit in-charge of Madurai, Hyderabad, and Chennai. He headed Thanjavur Division as Senior Divisional Manager.
Personnel Department Gets New Executive Director
Ms. Lata Madampath has been appointed as Executive Director (Personnel) at the Central Office.
She joined LIC in 1992 and holds a degree in Mathematics. She is a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India.
Over her 33-year career, she handled various portfolios across different offices. She also worked as Zonal Vigilance Officer for South Zone and in the Office of Insurance Ombudsman in Chennai.
Chief Life Insurance Advisor Role Filled
Mr. Gourab Chand has been appointed as Executive Director (Chief Life Insurance Advisor) at the Central Office.
He joined LIC in 1992 as an Assistant Administrative Officer. He holds a post graduate degree in Science.
He served as Senior Divisional Manager of Asansol, Kolkata-Suburban, and Howrah Divisions. He also held various positions in Western Zone and Central Office.
