New Delhi, June 16, 2026: Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) on Tuesday informed stock exchanges that its Managing Director, Dinesh Pant, has been appointed as Whole-Time Member (Actuary) of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI).

The appointment has been made by the Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance through a notification dated June 15, 2026. According to LIC's regulatory filing, Pant will hold the position for a period of five years from the date he assumes charge, or until he attains the age of 65 years, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Dinesh Pant currently serves as Managing Director and Key Managerial Personnel (KMP) of LIC, India's largest life insurer. His appointment to the country's insurance regulator marks an important transition from the industry to the regulatory side.

The development was disclosed by LIC under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. The corporation also stated that the information has been made available on its website.

IRDAI is the apex body responsible for regulating and promoting the insurance sector in India. As Whole-Time Member (Actuary), Pant will play a key role in matters related to actuarial practices and the overall development of the insurance industry.
