Nearly 37 Years at NTPC: Atul Kamalakar Desai Moves Up to Executive Director

New Delhi, June 2026: NTPC Limited has appointed Atul Kamalakar Desai as Executive Director (Senior Management) with effect from June 8, 2026. The appointment forms part of the company's latest senior management elevation exercise involving 34 officials and was disclosed to BSE and NSE under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.

According to the company's filing, Desai will serve in the Executive Director grade for a tenure of 2.08 years.

Nearly 37 Years of Service with NTPC

Atul Kamalakar Desai joined NTPC Limited on September 5, 1989 and has completed approximately 36.7 years of service with India's largest integrated power utility.

Over the course of his career, he has worked across several important functions, including:

• Business Unit Head;

• Operations and Maintenance (O&M);

• Plant Operations;

• Mechanical Maintenance.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Mechanical Engineering.

Extensive Experience in Plant Operations and Maintenance

During his long association with NTPC, Desai has gained experience in core thermal power plant functions. His assignments in operations and mechanical maintenance have involved ensuring plant reliability, equipment performance and operational efficiency.

His experience as a Business Unit Head also reflects leadership responsibilities in managing power generation assets and overseeing day-to-day operational activities.

The combination of technical expertise and operational leadership has been a key aspect of his nearly four-decade career with the company.

NTPC informed stock exchanges that 34 officials were elevated to the rank of Executive Director (Senior Management) with effect from June 8, 2026. The appointments were communicated through a regulatory filing signed by Company Secretary and Compliance Officer Ritu Arora.
