NMDC appoints two Non-Official Independent Directors

New Delhi: The Indian public sector undertaking, NMDC Limited, formerly National Mineral Development Corporation, today announced the appointment of Bharat Baburo Patil & Mahendra Singh Rao as Non-Official Independent Directors on the Board of NMDC Limited for a period of three years from the date of notification of their appointment i.e. 15th May 2025, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Brief Profile of Shri Bharat Baburo Patil
With over 25 years of multifaceted experience, Mr. Bharat Baburao Patil is a distinguished leader in education, infrastructure development, public administration and social service. Armed with academic credentials in political science and law, he has consistently driven impactful initiatives aimed at social upliftment and regional progress. His visionary approach and hands-on leadership have made him a prominent figure in Maharashtra’s development landscape.
Over the course of his illustrious career, Mr. Bharat Baburao Patil has held numerous prominent positions across diverse sectors, reflecting his dynamic leadership and unwavering commitment to public welfare. He currently serves as the Chairman of Vidhyavardhini Shikshan Sanstha, Karad, where he has been instrumental in advancing educational excellence. As the Founder of SAIO INFRA, he pioneered Asia’s longest ropeway project connecting Mahabaleshwar to Pratapgad, marking a significant milestone in regional infrastructure and tourism. He also holds directorial roles at Saio Infra Venture Private Limited and Navi Mumbai Jankalyan Nidhi Ltd., contributing to infrastructure growth and cooperative finance.
In the realm of environmental conservation, he serves as the Honorary Wildlife Warden for Satara District. His earlier roles include serving as a Member of the District Planning and Development Committee and Director of the Agriculture Market Committee, Patan, where he played a key part in strategic planning and agricultural reform. Additionally, he promotes sports and youth development as Vice President of the Athletic Association, Satara District.

Shri Mahendra Singh Rao, originally from the state of Rajasthan, is a seasoned professional with over 25 years of extensive experience in the mining industry. As an active entrepreneur, he owns and operates multiple mines across various regions of Rajasthan, establishing himself as a respected figure in the sector. In addition to his industrial accomplishments, Mr. Rao has made significant contributions to the field of genealogy. He served as the Chairman of the Vanshavali Conservation and Promotion Academy, Government of Rajasthan, holding the status of a State Minister, where he effectively led several initiatives related to heritage and lineage conservation.
He also held the prestigious position of National President of the All India Genealogy Conservation and Promotion Organisation for a decade, during which he successfully organized a series of national conferences in collaboration with universities across India.
Having begun his professional journey in the field of college education, Mr. Rao eventually transitioned into the mining sector. Despite this shift, he continues to be recognized as a leading authority on genealogy analysis in India, known for his deep expertise and scholarly engagement in the subject.
