New Delih: The process to appoint a new Member (Operations) at the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has been deferred after the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) decided not to recommend any of the interviewed candidates for the high-level post.

PESB conducted interviews to select a suitable candidate for the Schedule ‘A’ position of Member (Operations), one of the key leadership roles in AAI responsible for overseeing operational efficiency and management across India’s airports.

A total of twelve senior officials from the Airports Authority of India appeared before the selection committee. Those interviewed included:

  1. Shri Suneel Dutt, Executive Director (CNS Planning)

  2. Shri Sridhar Kumar Mallick, Executive Director (CNS Operation & Maintenance)

  3. Shri Sujoy Dey, Executive Director (Planning)

  4. Ms. Nandita Bhatt, Executive Director (Planning)

  5. Shri Pulla Hezekiah, General Manager (Operations)

  6. Shri Vikram Singh, General Manager (Operations), AAI CHQ

  7. Shri S. Senthil Valavan, General Manager (ATM-Training)

  8. Dr. Gursewak Manish, Executive Director, Indian Aviation Academy

  9. Shri Santosh Dhoke, General Manager & Airport Director

  10. Shri Utpal Datta Baruah, General Manager (Air Traffic Management)

  11. Shri Anchal Prakash, General Manager (Engineering - Civil), JVC

  12. Dr. Shyameshwar Dayal Sharma, General Manager (Project - Bihta Civil Enclave, Patna, Bihar)

Despite the wide range of experience among the contenders, the Board, after deliberations, did not find any candidate suitable for recommendation to the post at this stage.

The PESB has advised the Ministry of Civil Aviation to take an appropriate course of further action for filling up the position. This could include initiating a process through a Search-cum-Selection Committee (SCSC) or another suitable method with the approval of the competent authority.

The position of Member (Operations) in AAI plays a critical role in strategic planning and operational management of airports across the country, and the decision to defer the appointment indicates the Board’s emphasis on finding the most suitable leadership for the post.
