NLC india inaugurates three new facilities as part of special campaign 5.0 for better community infrastructure
The Swachhata (Cleanliness) Campaign launched from October 2, 2025, is part of the larger Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission) and is also referred to as Special Campaign 5.0.
New Delhi:The Swachhata (Cleanliness) Campaign launched from October 2, 2025, is part of the larger Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission) and is also referred to as Special Campaign 5.0.
Motivated by the inspiration of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and guided by the Hon’ble Minister of Coal, Shri G. Kishan Reddy and the Coal Ministry, NLCIL has been observing “Swachhotsav”, the theme for the 2025 Swachhata Hi Seva (Cleanliness is Service) campaign, with several community infrastructure initiatives and transformation of public spaces. Months back, an unused building was renovated and converted into a Museum which was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Coal Minister Shri G. Kishan Reddy. Also, NLCIL recently installed a scrap metal sculpture called the "Jai Hind Chakra" near the new Parliament House in New Delhi symbolizing national pride and environmental responsibility.
NLCIL continues its efforts in institutionalizing cleanliness and improving community infrastructure in this specific phase of Special Campaign 5.0. A plethora of activities have been taken up including scrap identification & disposal, safe removal of e-waste and transforming public utility facilities.

Read Also : NHPC Commences Wet Commissioning of First Unit (250 MW) at 2000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydro Power ProjectAs part of the above and as an illustration of BEST practices, three initiatives aimed at community welfare were inaugurated today, on 24.10.2025, by Shri Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, NLCIL in the presence of Shri Samir Swarup, Director (HR). Senior officials of NLCIL, representatives of recognised Trade Unions, SC/ST Welfare Federations and other Associations were also present.
First, the renovated community hall at the famous Sri Sivasubramania Swamy Temple, Veluduyanpattu, Neyveli Township, which caters to the devotees and visitors who conduct religious functions, was inaugurated by CMD, NLCIL. The Community Hall, consisting of two floors provides improved amenities and conveniences to the devotees and the public, fostering sustainable and inclusive development in line with the vision of the government.
Next, a renovated Dining Hall, named “Arusuvai Koodam” at the Block-25 NLC Guest House, was opened by the CMD. The Guest House accommodates Guests of the company like technical experts, Auditors, Training faculty and guests of employees. The renovated dining hall now provides a delightful ambience to the Guests, improving hospitality measures in keeping with the call from the Minister of Coal to make the coal sector central to a broader vision of comprehensive development.
In yet another effort to transform unused building infrastructure into contemporary use, the existing unused bank quarters in Block-12 of Neyveli Township were converted into a “Ladies Trainee Hostel”, with all infrastructural facilities and safety measures. The “Ladies Trainee Hostel” will accommodate those girls who undertake apprenticeship at NLCIL and girls/ladies working in NLCIL. This is also in line with the clarion call by the Prime Minister for “Beti Bachao, Beti Padao” (“Save the daughter, Educate the daughter) and a step towards a transformative Bharat.
With the above three new initiatives today, NLC India, under the Ministry of Coal, continues to be at the forefront in celebrating the festival of Swachhotsav - a celebration of cleanliness, community participation, and sustainable living.
