New Delhi: The government has approved the proposal for the entrustment of additional charge to Shri Sajid Farid Shapoo to the post of Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) at four Defence PSUs, namely Gliders India Ltd, Troops Comfort Ltd, Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Ltd, India Optel Ltd. He is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre of 1998-batch.

Currently he is serving as Chief Vigilance Officer at Bharat Earth Movers Ltd (BEML), Bengaluru. He will serve for six-months additional charge for the four Defence PSUs. This approval has come after premature repatriation of Shri Pankaj Gupta, ITS (1995).

The appointment is for a period of six months or till the appointment of a regular CVO or until further orders, whichever is the earliest.

Dr. Shapoo is a distinguished Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 1998 batch of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, renowned for his exemplary service and contributions to national security. He has served in key leadership roles, including as Superintendent of Police in Bhind, Satna, Shivpuri, and Dewas districts of Madhya Pradesh. He was one of the pioneering officers to join the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in 2009, where he led the Investigation Branch and later headed the Intelligence and Operations Division as Deputy Inspector General. During his tenure, he supervised high-profile terrorism related investigations.
