MDL celebrates Children day through CSR initiatives

New Delhi: On the occasion of Children’s Day, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) is undertaking three CSR initiatives aimed at children on 14th November 2019. 
 
An outdoor fitness centre-cum-children’s park has been set up by MDL at a cost of Rs.3 lakhs at the Zilla Parishad Upper Primary School at Padwal Pada tribal hamlet in Kharade Village. The same was formally inaugurated today by Cmde T V Thomas, Director (Corporate Planning and Personnel), MDL. This school with a strength of 80 children has been modernised and has obtained ISO 9000 Certification with CSR support of MDL under the Model Village Scheme being executed in Kharade Village by the Shipyard. Children at the school, during a project impact interaction requested MDL officials for a play area in their campus, and the outdoor fitness centre-cum-children’s park is result of the same.  As part of the function, the children and their parents were introduced to the importance of integrity in Nation building through a motivational lecture.
 
MDL has approved a CSR project to support all round development of 30 slum children in the age group of 6 to 12 years through the Oscar Foundation.  Costing Rs. 5 lakhs this project aims to provide education, nutrition and physical development of the children for one year with foot-ball as a motivational tool.  This project will be formally launched by VAdm SKK Krishnan, Ex-Chairman & Managing Director, MDL at the IFS Football Turf at Cooperage Football ground today.  As part of the function, a football match will be played between MDL Apprentices and Oscar Foundation Football Team.
 
Also, Toys, gifted by employees of MDL during Diwali Haat will be handed over to children of four Aanganwadies in the tribal areas of Nandurbar, an aspirational district being supported by MDL under its CSR.
