BCPL signed MoU with Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Port
The port will provide a location for setting up tankage for storage of imported feedstock, raw material, etc. under the jurisdiction of the port and a well-organized logistics chain for movement of feedstock, raw material, etc. required for the BCPL plant at Dibrugarh.
The MoU will open new avenues of investment for BCPL besides long-term stability and create opportunities in the industrial sector in and around Dibrugarh district.
New Delhi: BCPL executed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Port, Kolkata for setting up a logistics chain for the movement of cargo from Haldia Dock Complex to BCPL's Petrochemical Complex at Dibrugarh.
The port will provide a location for setting up tankage for storage of imported feedstock, raw material, etc. under the jurisdiction of the port and a well-organized logistics chain for movement of feedstock, raw material, etc. required for the BCPL plant at Dibrugarh.
The MoU was signed by Shri Pranjal Changmai, GM Operation Incharge, BCPL, and Shri Abhay Kumar Mohapatra, GM (Traffic), HDC/SMPR on behalf of SMPK Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon'ble Union Minister, Ministry of AYUSH & Ports, Ministry of Shipping & Waterways and Shri. Shantanu Thakur, Hon'ble Union Minister of State, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Haldia Dock Complex, SMPK.
Shri Reap Hazarika, Managing Director of BCPL, Shri Surjit Niyog, DGM, BCPL and other dignitaries of SMPK were also present on the occasion. Shri Sarbananda Sonowal also flagged off the maiden voyage of a steel cargo laden barge scheduled for Pandu via the India-Bangladesh Protocol route.
In future, it is envisaged to extend the inland waterway connectivity to Bogibeel which will boost trade and commerce in Dibrugarh as well as in the entire Northeast. Mr. Sonowal is trying to implement infrastructure connectivity projects through his ministry as part of PM Gati Shakti, the National Master Plan for Multi-Modal Connectivity launched by the Hon'ble Prime Minister. He is keen to develop the state and NER with such initiatives.
