Girl Empowerment Mission Residential Workshop concludes at NTPC Kaniha
Speaking on the occasion Shri Sehgal said that GEM was NTPC’s way of empowering the little girls by helping them build self confidence and enable them to realize their dreams and ambitions in life.
The four-week residential Girl Empowerment Mission-2024 (GEM) Workshop conducted by NTPC Kaniha under CSR concluded on June 10. Total of 109 girls students studying in Class VI in the neighbouring Govt. School successfully completed the training program. The best performing 10 students have been offered free education at NTPC township school.
Earlier, the program was inaugurated by Shri A K Sehgal, HOP(NTPC Talcher Kaniha) and Smt. Renu Sehgal, President, Tanvi Sangam, Ladies Club in presence of Shri Satya Rama Krishna, GM(O&M), Shri Prakash Kumar, GM(FM), Shri A. J.. Rajkumar, GM(Maintenance), Shri S. S. Rao, GM(ADM), Shri Navneet Kumar, HOD(HR), Members of Tanvi Sangam and representatives of Unions & Association were present on the occasion. The Principal of participating schools, Parents and guardians of the participating students from the neighbouring villages turned up in large numbers to witness a grand cultural presentation made by the girls students. On their part, the girls students put up a spectacular show of recitation, song & dance that earned the appreciation and applause of the audience.

He said during the Environment Day celebrations, GEM girl students were invited to take part in sapling plantations so that they could become conscious about the need to preserve the environment. He hoped that the children would return home and plant the sapling received from NTPC and nurture it. Shri Sehgal also felicitated Miss Dibyasa Priyadarshini Chonkdar, student of DPS, Dera for their remarkable achievement in air pistol shooting.

It may be noted here that Miss Priyadarshini has been invited to the GEM Workshop to share her success story and inspire the students.
