Construction will soon begin on the third Ro-Ro boat for the Fort Kochi-Vypeen line, following an agreement between the Kochi Corporation and Cochin Shipyard Ltd (CSL). The addition of this third boat will help reduce service interruptions. Currently, some services are canceled when one of the ships is undergoing repairs or maintenance.

Cochin Smart Mission Ltd (CSML) will provide financial support for the construction, which is estimated to cost Rs 14.9 crore. Although the project was originally scheduled to be completed in 18 months, CSL has agreed to Mayor M. Anilkumar’s request to expedite the timeline and finish the construction in 12 months.
