NLCIL Organizes Mass Cleaning Programme as a Part of SWACHHATA HI SEVA 2024

New Delhi: As part of this, today, on 30.09.2024, NLCIL organised a mass cleaning programme at Neyveli. The event was flagged off by Dr. Suresh Chandra Suman, Director (Mines) and Director (P&P AC), Shri. Samir Swarup, Director (HR), Shri. Venkatachalam M, Director (Power), and Thiru. Appakannu Govindarajan, IPoS, Chief Vigilance Officer, NLCIL at 7 AM at Anna Thidal, Block-17, Neyveli Township.

Director/ Mines & Director/ P&P (AC) while addressing the gathering, highlighted contribution of Mahatma Gandhi towards cleanliness and its importance as equal as independence, emphasising the importance of observation of Swachhata Hi Seva’ as a tribute to the Mahatma on his Jayanti.

In the cleanliness drive, Senior officials of NLCIL, Employees, Indcoserve & contract workers, stakeholders, school children and teachers of Neyveli schools and the general public participated enthusiastically. Sequel to the above mass cleaning activities, executives, workmen and Indcoserve & contract workers carried out cleaning activities across all Mines & Thermal units and offices in Neyveli, with more than 6,000 participants. Pamphlets were distributed to raise awareness about the segregation and disposal of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste, as well as the ban on single-use plastic.

The programme provided a platform for community participation for providing the necessary impetus on the Swachh Bharat Mission and to disseminate the importance of cleanliness in our daily lives.
