Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh – Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, laid the foundation stone today for a crucial transmission system strengthening project by POWERGRID at the Kurnool-III Pooling Station (PS). This significant undertaking is designed to integrate and evacuate power from additional Renewable Energy (RE) generation projects, marking a major step forward in India's green energy transition.
The event was graced by the presence of several esteemed dignitaries, including Shri S. Abdul Nazeer, Hon’ble Governor of Andhra Pradesh; Shri Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh; and Shri Konidala Pawan Kalyan, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, along with other key officials.

Its core element involves the construction of a 765 kV double-circuit Kurnool-III Pooling Station-Chilakaluripeta transmission line.
Once completed, the project will significantly enhance the state's and nation's power evacuation capabilities by boosting the transformation capacity by 6,000 MVA. This substantial increase is vital for enabling the large-scale evacuation of green energy generated in the region, particularly from solar and wind farms, ensuring that clean power reaches consumption centers efficiently.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to sustainable development and achieving ambitious renewable energy targets. He highlighted that infrastructure projects like this are the backbone of the nation's economic growth and power security, particularly as the country pivots towards cleaner energy sources.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan added that the transmission strengthening would benefit the state's citizens and industries by providing reliable and clean electricity.
The strengthening of the transmission system at Kurnool-III PS is expected to accelerate the development of future RE projects, contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions, and provide a reliable power supply that will support industrial growth and overall national prosperity. The project underscores the continued push by the government to build a robust and future-ready power grid capable of supporting the nation's green energy ambitions.
