NTPC Kaniha hosts successful Rural Volleyball Tournament

New Delhi: NTPC Kaniha organized a Rural Volleyball Tournament in its township on 5th November as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility Activity. The main objective of the event was to promote the culture of sports and fitness among the local rural youth, thereby playing a pivotal role in the “Khelo India” campaign of GOI. A total of 35 teams from the surrounding villages participated in the day long volleyball tournament.

The tournament was formally inaugurated by Shri A.K. Sehgal, Plant Head, Talcher Kaniha with Deep Prajyolan, playing of NTPC Geet and National Anthem. He greeted all the players and motivated them to give their best in the field. Sh Satya Ram Krishna, General Manager (O&M), Shri S S Rao, General Manager (Maintenance & ADM), Officials from HR department, representative members of Unions and Associations, members of the Sports Council of NTPC Kaniha and employee volunteers were also present on the occasion to cheer up the teams.

The contesting teams had thrown upon good competition among themselves, exhibiting youthful vigour. Towards the end, the tournament turned out to be very exciting and exhilarating as the final two teams competed fiercely against each other to secure the winning title. The audience also joined in large numbers and demonstrated their enthusiasm for the game with thunderous applause. 

The program concluded with Shri A.K. Sehgal, Plant Head, NTPC Kaniha and Sh Navneet Kumar, HOHR giving away the Winning and Runner’s up Trophies to the top two teams respectively. The entire event turned out to be a huge success, reiterating NTPC's deep commitment towards societal development and engaging the rural youth through its CSR initiatives.
