NHPC CMD Bhupender Gupta Attends 10th Steering Committee Meeting in Arunachal Pradesh

Itanagar, March 13, 2026: Shri Bhupender Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director of NHPC, along with Shri Mahesh Kumar Sharma, Director (Finance), attended the 10th Steering Committee Meeting in Itanagar. The session was presided over by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Pema Khandu, in the presence of Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister, Shri Chowna Mein.

The meeting focused on reviewing the progress of 13 hydroelectric projects assigned to various Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) within the state. Key discussions included project timelines, operational challenges, and strategies to accelerate execution to enhance Arunachal Pradesh’s renewable energy capacity.

NHPC officials shared updates on ongoing works, emphasizing efforts to ensure timely completion while adhering to environmental and social safeguards. The interaction underscored collaboration between the state government and CPSUs to boost hydropower development, contributing to India’s clean energy targets and regional infrastructure growth.

The Steering Committee highlighted the importance of coordinated monitoring, resource optimization, and community engagement to facilitate sustainable hydroelectric projects that benefit both the state and the nation.
